Pity Kitty?

Yong-sama doesn't like beggars. Period.

It's quite a common sight in Malaysia, don't you think? Just visit the weekly pasar malam, or even on the pedestrian bridges in KL, and you'll spot them straight on sitting on make-shift newspapers mats, usually with a cup in their hands, waiting for kind strangers to drop some change into their hands. But look closer, most of them are actually able-bodied humans that for some reason refuse to work and chose to beg instead. Some may have lost a limb or two, but that doesn't make it impossible to find work right? Some even bring their small children along to their "job", maybe hoping that after seeing the poor condition of the kids people may have more sympathy instead.

Some people might say we shouldn't hate, but pity them instead. But seriously, I just can't find any sympathy in my heart for people like these who chose the easier way out instead. I simply detest those who doesn't have the tiniest bit of motivation to make their lives a little better. Even a little effort is better than none, isn't it? I guess it's just my nature.

Well anyway, I'm not interested in blogging about human beggars. However, I do think that animals can be so cute when they beg. (Yes, call me bias or a hypocrite or whatever, I don't care)

I was at the mamak Bistro in SS14 just a few days ago, having my tea-break with my dad and brother, who was about to dig into his second tosai for the day, when some little fella sauntered over to our table like it was the king of the world and started to beg for food.

All hail the Pro Kitty Beggar. This little kitty used certain "dirty" tricks to obtain food. First, it would come right up to your chair, plant its butt on the floor and stare up at you with big-cute-please-pity-me-kitty eyes, and giving a little meow now and then to capture your attention. And if it's victim still does not yield to its glamorous charm, little kitty contemplates using Plan B instead. It then raises a paw and places in on your chair leg, meowing a little louder this time. If Plan B still doesn't work, little kitty then goes for the extreme and places its little paw on its victim's lap instead.

Well at this point the victim would have two options:
1. To be extremely cruel and push little kitty away while yelling at it.
OR
2. To give in to little kitty and throw down a little treat or two.

Since I'm not the type of person who'd catch and boil kitties who trespass into my lawn in hot oil, I chose to do option number 2 and throw little kitty a few pieces of ikan bilis from my nasi lemak instead. Which wasn't a really good idea because little kitty kept coming back for more. Well, at least until my ikan bilis ran out that is.
