Your Considerate M'sian Movie-goer

I believe I am not the only one with complaints.

Aren't we all already familiar, and if not weary about how Malaysians can be in cinemas?

You have your usual mobile phone beeping and ringing shrilly, even though there were advertisements to remind everybody to turn-off their phones, or at least switch it to silent mode.
You have your typical 'joker', who thinks he is so funny by repeating line for line of the characters dialogue in the movie, even though it just happened on screen itself.
You have your ravenous being, who just can't seem to eat his chips and pop-corn with his mouth closed. (But mummy never taught me how to... whatever dude)
You have your loud and obnoxious 'story-teller' who of all times, decide to tell whoever it is sitting next to him what he was doing the week before.
And sometimes you even have some fella who even though realises he has a case of athlete's foot, but is still proud and wants to show it off by propping his stinky feet on the vacant (sometimes even occupied) seat in front of him.

And although this is being highlighted again and again, if not by the cinema authorities and even articles in newspapers, it seems like the majority of Malaysians still don't care. It really is a sad thing to know that the considerate Malaysians (like me of course) are just a minority of the population and are getting rarer in existence.

Is it really that hard for a person to shut off his hand phone, shut up for just the 2 to 2 and a half hour length of the movie and watch it in silence?

Let me recount a few of my 'pleasant' experiences in cinemas:

Movie: Mr. Bean's Holiday
You can say that I was extremely 'lucky' to get a seat for this movie, what with today being a public holiday and all. What I mean by 'lucky' is, the first row of seats facing the screen.
Seated next to me was this plump boy (believe me when I say I have nothing against plump people), who immediately kicked off his slippers and put his feet on the railing before us. Fine.

Never mind the hard task of leaning my head back as far as possible to watch the movie, what I couldn't stand was having to put up with the smell of his reeking feet throughout the whole show.

Movie: The Banquet
I caught this movie quite some time after it was released. So you could say I had one of the better seats throughout my 'movie-watching life'. I was thinking, this movie's gonna be a breeze... when suddenly in comes this senior uncle (and I have nothing against old people as well, I swear) who sits one row behind me. Not long after the movie starts, the faint smell of sweaty feet sweeps past my nostrils. I ignore it of course.

Some time later, I feel someone kicking the back of the seat I'm sitting in. I turn my head around (pure reflexes, everyone would do it) and before I am able to fully turn it, what do I see to my right but two old feet, propped in between seats, right on top of the arm rests. Gosh uncle, just because the seats to my right are vacant, that doesn't mean you can just put them there you know!!!

Not wanting to miss anymore of the movie, I decided to keep quiet and turned my attention back to the movie. However, it wasn't the last of my troubles. Somewhere towards the further side of my right, some fella's phone began to ring (it was one of those monotone ring tones that you just cannot tahan). Instead of turning it off and silencing it, the bugger actually let it continue to disturb the peace and quiet of everyone else who was trying to concentrate on the movie. There were shushes from the crowd but it didn't seem like the fella heard it. This continued for about 2 whole minutes, when the bugger finally decided to pick up his phone, and answer it in the cinema with a loud and sleepy voice. Voice outs from the crowd like "Woi, bising la." and "Shhhhhh!" didn't seem to register in his head. After 2 whole minutes of torture, the fella finally stopped talking and walked out the cinema. There you have it, 5 whole minutes of showtime destroyed by some idiot who doesn't understand the meaning of SHUT UP!
Sigh. For once I do wish that I can actually sit through a movie without any disturbances.
When will this ever happen? In a few hundred years maybe (and I think I'm being quite generous =.=).
Forgive the rant but, Yong-sama has never once forgotten to put her hand phone in silent mode while catching a movie in the cinema.

Nightmare Eyes

Nightmare Eyes

Troubled nights come troubled thoughts
Sleep can never come easy

Fall into dark dreams I may
Into dark dreams where old memories lay

I wake not remembering any dreams
I live not knowing who I was
I live not knowing who I am

Day after day I see those eyes
Murky eyes like a fog
Murky eyes with no whites

Wanting to hurt me
Wanting to break me
He holds my body on his leash
He holds my soul in his hands

Holding patience as his arsenal
He awaits the time
The time that I would finally remember
The time that I would finally know

I dread the day I would remember
When those nightmare eyes
Oh those horrible nightmare eyes

Would finally destroy me

Celery - the good? (or is it?) vegetable

Celery. A vegetable/herb. And vegetables are obviously good for health aren' t they? They give you the vitamins and fibre you so crucially need in order not to get sick, and well, you know... do that other thing.

Well, according to research (and it may well have been proven), celery is good at reducing blood pressure and relieving muscle spasms. Celery is also a diuretic which aids in digestion. Celery acts as an antioxidant and a mild sedative. Celery also may help relieve the symptoms of arthritis.

So, in general, celery is good for all. You may be thinking, there's totally no harm in coming into contact with a stalk of celery right? Well, if you were thinking so, then you are WRONG.

Wha... Why!? One might ask.

Well, if you have been watching a little bit of football, and are fans of the EPL club Chelsea (the club owned by an extremely rich Russian billionaire), then you may understand what I'm hitting at.

Celery, deemed as a Chelsea tradition for quite some time now (although how it became a tradition I don't really know) has been banned from the stadium. The reason? Referees have reported the throwing of celery by fans during the few recent matches in which Chelsea has been playing in. This includes the Carling Cup Final where they were up against bitter rivals Arsenal, who had players complaining that they were being pelted by salads while taking corners. Why wasn't I there to see them pelting Arsenal players with celery!!! Er I mean, how could they do such horrible things?

"The throwing of anything at a football match, including celery, is a criminal offence for which you can be arrested and end up with a criminal record. In future, if anyone is found attempting to bring celery into Stamford Bridge they could be refused entry and anyone caught throwing celery will face a ban." -- a statement from the club's website.

What a laugh. To think that of all items being banned from a football stadium, celery would be one of them. So what if you get pelted by celery? It's health food isn't it? =p

"Yea, why don't you stand right there and let me pelt celery at you then," any Arsenal fan would tell me.

Pffffft. As if I'd let anyone do that.

Rain

Rain.

Rain, God's gift of life to the dying crop.
Rain, God's wrath on earth with floods and storms.
Rain, the famous Korean artist which has so many fans across the world screaming after?

No......

Rain, something I've never really understood about and realized until...

***

Yesterday evening was an inspiring one.
I had just finished my weekly sports work-out with my group of good-ole' Teddies (they are not OLD, mind you). It was raining heavily, and the wind was blowing hard. We could even hear the rain beating harshly on the roof while we were still in the sports complex.

Around 10 minutes later me and my group of teddies were standing in the lobby of the complex, some of them waiting for their transport to go home. The rain had subsided considerably by then, but it wasn't light enough to be a drizzle, nor was it stormy enough to blow you away.

And then, I made a decision in my life that I never once really did - To voluntarily walk back home in the pouring rain.

I had in the past drenched myself enough times to drown dozens of cats and rats. But it wasn't because I wanted to. It was coincidence, or more like bad luck, to have the skies rain down on me as I slowly trudge my way home from school or anywhere else to my final destination, cursing under my breath, and wiping the drops away from my eyes.

This time though, it wasn't coincidence or anything like that. I just wanted to do it.

Waving goodbye to my friends, I started running towards the exit of the parking lot, the cold rain showering down on me and the wind giving me chills all the way. As I was running, I was wondering what would happen to me if a lightning bolt simply decided to choose me as its dinner (victim) for that evening, and strike me.

Would I die instantly?
Would I feel a sharp, hot, white pain before I die or fall unconscious?
Would a car run over me if I were lying in the middle of the road?
Would I see that 'bright light' at the end of a tunnel?
What would happen to my treasured fantasy book collection?
Why didn't I write a will???
Would it really prove that I can be a little unlucky sometimes?

So anyway, I didn't get stroked by any lightning bolt, for I am still here, healthy and well, and blogging my mind out. Although what may happen tomorrow I can never predict, but that would be another story.

Half-way home, I was already out of breath. So I slowed my running to a brisk walk. I was drenched, with my hair all plastered down on my face, when suddenly I spotted a red flower growing in my neighbour's yard that I'd never noticed before. I'd never in my life, seen something so radiant and beautiful as that flower. I slowed even further to a stride. And, turning my head to look around myself slowly, was a world I've never realized the existence of. A world of striking colour and beauty.

As I looked up into the sky, I could see the small droplets of rain clearly, pausing in the air for just a while before it fell to the earth. The surroundings felt so serene, it was as if everything around me was at peace with each other. And the colours, oh gosh, I can't even start to describe what I saw, everything around me seemed so much more striking, so much more defined, I almost cried at actually missing out on seeing those things around me, those things that had existed all this while, without even me noticing or giving a damn for. I felt quite a fool, gone were the thoughts of hatred and disgust I had felt against certain people for the past week, gone were the feelings of a heavy heart I'd been carrying, gone were all the petty troubles in life.

What was left, was a world that God had meant it to be. A world as pure and beautiful as He had intended it to be, a world like that beautiful red flower.

Walking in to the house as I removed my wet socks, my mum came to the door, and exclaimed in greeting.

"Why didn't you give me a call, I would've come and picked you up. Look at you, you're all wet!"

"It's ok, it was just a little rain, I needed a bath anyway."

"But you should have called me! I was expecting you to. The rain was so heavy! Why did you even..."

Before she could even finish her sentence, my dad who was sitting on the couch with his newspaper interrupted.
"It's just a little rain, it won't hurt now, will it?"

Stepping in with wet feet, I gave him an appreciative smile, which he returned in kind.

I suppose dad who grew up in a village, as compared to mum who was a city girl, would've understood and noticed the beauty of the rain, a long long time ago.

♥Lonely In Gorgeous♥

午前0時飛び出した、扉を蹴飛ばして
ガラスの靴が割れて、ドレスも破れた
ねえ呆れているでしょう?追いかけても来ない
涙があふれて、もう走れないは

ジェらしいかも... SE-TSU-NA-I...!

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party night... I'm breaking my heart
今すぐ見つけて抱きしめてほしい
ヘッドライトが光る... Where are you Bad boy?
愛のスカーフで涙を拭いて、何も見えない

星屑をかき集め、あなたにぶつけたい
何故構うの? 自分しか愛せないくせに...
失恋かも... マジなの...?!

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party time... 埋らない
あなたがいないと空っぽな世界
夢の続きがみたい、"I Miss you Bad Boy"
きらめきの中に閉じ込めないで、壊れてしまうは

"Lonely in Gorgeous" I'm breaking my heart
Where are you Bad boy? "Lonely in Party Night"
"Lonely in Gorgeous" I'm breaking my heart
I miss you Bad boy? "Lonely in Party Time"

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party night... 笑えない
何もいらないただそばにいて

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party night...
I'm breaking my heart
あなたが残したきらめきの箱の中で、孤独を抱いて動けない
なにもいらないのただいそばにいて
跪いて私を見て
愛を誓って

English Translation:
At 12 midnight, I burst out, kicking the doors
My glass slippers are shattered, and my dress is torn

You must be disgusted right? As you didn't even come after me
Tears are flooding down my face, and I can run no longer

It may be jealousy... It's just SAD...!!

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party night... I'm breaking my heart
I want you to find me right now, and hold me tight

The headlights are flashing... Where are you Bad boy?
I wipe away my tears with Love's scarf, I can't see anything

I gather up stardust, wanting to throw it at you
Why do you even care? You only love yourself

It may be unrequited love... are you serious...?!

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party time... I can't be buried by it
When you're not here with me, my world is empty

I want to see the next part of my dream, I miss you Bad boy
Please don't lock me up in excitement...
I'll break

"Lonely in Gorgeous", I'm breaking my heart
Where are you Bad boy?
"Lonely in party night"

"Lonely in Gorgeous", I'm breaking my heart
I miss you Bad boy
"Lonely in party time"

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party night... I can laugh no more
I don't want anything else, but for you to be by my side

"Lonely in Gorgeous" yeah...
Party night... I'm breaking my heart

Inside the box of excitement you left me
Embracing loneliness, I can't move
I don't want anything, but for you to be by my side

Kneel before me,
Look up at me,
and swear that you love me

I love this song, even though the video IS weird(and the title makes absolutely no sense). Moreover it was the opening theme from the anime Paradise Kiss, which added so much more flavour to it.

The song is about a girl, who in my opinion, just had a fight with her boyfriend (or did he dump her?) She seems like a pretty, pampered girl, who fell in love with a bad boy. As much as she wants him back, he doesn't feel the same way. Left with grief, she can only dream that he will one day return to her side.

I dunno why but I just find the concept to be real interesting. Well, enjoy the song peeps.
